head_space

Woodlands METRO has launched a new initiative called head_space reaching out to young people in Bristol with well-being support. Check out their video and website and get involved!

At head_space we create spaces for you to look after after your wellbeing with community, conversations and care.

We believe that we are made for community and that is when we are at our happiest and more whole. So everything we do is aimed towards helping you find a real and authentic community.

We’re not experts and we’re not here to tell you what to do. Instead, we want to create spaces for conversations that are relevant to your life and your wellbeing.

Finally we believe that everyone is an individual who needs to be loved and cared for. That is why we have a team of volunteers who want to provide care and support that is a refreshing change from the important, but sometimes a bit faceless, professional services.

New ID Eating Disorders Course

Are you struggling with an eating disorder?

New ID is a 6-week Christian course for those who suffer from eating disorders but are ready to move on. Includes anorexia, bulimia and compulsive eating.

The starting premise is that complete freedom is possible. Confidentiality is key and time is given for prayer for participants.

Here are some testimonies from recent course attendants.

"Each week I was reminded of the joy that God gives us when we let go of our earthly desires and follow him. Listening to other people’s experiences supported me to trust that the transformation God has in store for us when we give him the control is greater than we could ever imagine."

Emily

The New ID course is so much more than i could have anticipated or wished for. It offered me a space to be open about my experiences, emotions and feelings. I felt like I was able to dive into the real reasons behind my eating disorder (which I thought I was over!) and untangle roots that have deepened over time, effecting my every day emotions, thoughts and habits. It was amazing to take part alongside others who could relate to what you felt and spoke of and even more so, leaders who had come out of the other side and were free! Weekly teachings, discussion and prayer helped me so much on my journey with an ED and I can honestly say it has been and will be life changing to me. I will always think fondly of the 6 weeks I spent doing New ID and am truly grateful for the opportunity. If you are not sure whether the course is for you or whether you would benefit from it, I would say go for it! (but also feel free to enquire - it does no harm!)

Hannah

The next course will run on Monday evenings from 6th June - 11th July at Alma Church.

ME/LongCovid Support group

Are you struggling with chronic pain, fatigue or long Covid or supporting someone who is? Are you looking for someone who understands and who can share part of your journey?

As a part of the Woodlands community, we would love to meet you, hear your story and share ours, seek God in the pain and isolation and take time to pray together.

We started a regular meeting a couple of months ago - on Zoom at present - just for half an hour or so and it’s been wonderful. It’s so encouraging to hear one another’s stories, to share the highs and the lows and to invite Jesus into it all.

Everyone is welcome - so grab your coffee and come join us. We would love to meet you.
